HB History

Homeward Bound was launched in 1993.

From the board of  Bruce Roberts (Modified Spray) she is a world class vessel designed to take two people anywhere safely and comfortably.

HB spent her first nine years circumnavigating the Carribean via the Windwards, Leewards, Trinidad, Tobago, Venezuela, Columbia, Central America, the Northwest Carribean and Jamaica.

She sailed north to Annapolis, MD in late 2002 where ownership was transfered to the Routson's in March of 2003.

We have moved aboard (8/1/08) and are cruising full time. Our plan is to sail the western Carribean after transiting the Bahamas, Turks/Caicos, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. We anticipate our travels to continue into 2011.

Joshua Slocum - First solo circumnavigator aboard Spray

N
ova Scotia born, with family roots in New England, Captain Slocum commanded some of the finest tall ships that ever sailed the seas. On April 24, 1895, at the age of 51, he departed Boston in his tiny sloop Spray and sailed around the world single-handed, a passage of 46,000 miles, returning to Newport, Rhode Island on June 27, 1898. This historic achievement made him the patron saint of small-boat voyagers, navigators and adventurers all over the world.
